Role Context
The Consultant - Gynecologic Oncology will manage patients with ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulvar, endometrial, and other gynecologic malignancies from diagnosis through surgery, recovery, surveillance, and long-term oncologic follow-up. The role requires high-level surgical decision-making, compassionate communication, strong cancer-care coordination, and the ability to collaborate closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, anesthesia, nursing, and supportive care teams. The consultant will help strengthen specialized women’s cancer services in Dubai through clinical leadership, safe surgical practice, research contribution, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage gynecologic malignancies including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulvar, and endometrial cancers.
* Perform advanced gynecologic oncology surgeries, including complex open, minimally invasive, and robotic-assisted procedures where clinically appropriate.
* Develop individualized cancer treatment plans based on staging, pathology, imaging, patient condition, treatment goals, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
* Provide perioperative, postoperative, and long-term oncologic care for patients undergoing gynecologic cancer treatment.
* Participate in tumor boards and contribute expert surgical input to multidisciplinary oncology case discussions.
* Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, fertility specialists, nurses, and supportive care professionals.
* Monitor patient outcomes, treatment response, surgical recovery, recurrence risk, and follow-up care needs.
* Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, surgical options, risks, recovery expectations, fertility considerations, survivorship care, and ongoing treatment plans.
* Maintain accurate medical records, operative notes, consent documentation, staging details, treatment plans, and follow-up reports.
* Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, hospital policies, patient safety standards, and international oncology care practices.
* Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, cancer service quality improvement, and governance activities.
* Contribute to medical education, mentoring, research activity, case presentations, and professional development within the oncology service.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Fellowship, CCT, or equivalent UK qualification in Gynecologic Oncology.
* UK training in gynecologic oncology is preferred.
* DHA license or DHA eligibility as a Consultant Gynecologic Oncology physician.
* Minimum 5-7 years of consultant-level experience in gynecologic oncology surgery.
* Strong expertise in complex oncologic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic-assisted gynecologic procedures.
* Proven experience managing ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulvar, endometrial, and related gynecologic cancers.
* Strong ability to work within multidisciplinary oncology teams and contribute to tumor board decision-making.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior doctors and support clinical service development.
* Clear communication style with sensitivity in managing cancer diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term patient care.
