This role is critical in ensuring safe and effective transfusion medicine services while managing a wide range of hematological disorders. The Consultant will oversee blood bank operations, support clinical teams, and contribute to improving transfusion protocols and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage benign and malignant hematological conditions including anemia, leukemias, and coagulopathies
* Oversee blood bank operations, compatibility testing, and inventory management
* Lead transfusion services, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and international standards
* Manage and investigate transfusion reactions and guide clinical teams on best practices
* Support apheresis, plasma exchange, and cellular therapy programs where applicable
* Collaborate with oncology, laboratory medicine, and transplant teams for integrated care
* Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and continuing medical education activities
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with specialization in Hematology or related field
* Board-certified in Hematology or Transfusion Medicine
* Minimum 5 years of consultant-level experience
* Strong expertise in transfusion protocols and blood bank management
* Experience in multidisciplinary clinical environments
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Eligible for UAE medical licensing
