Key Responsibilities
* Provide consultant-level care for critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit, including diagnosis, treatment planning, stabilization, monitoring, and ongoing clinical management.
* Lead daily ICU rounds and make timely decisions for patients requiring advanced respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurological, or multi-organ support.
* Work closely with intensivists, anesthesiologists, surgeons, emergency physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated critical care.
* Develop individualized treatment plans for each ICU patient based on clinical condition, diagnostic findings, risk factors, and recovery goals.
* Respond to emergency procedures, urgent consultations, deteriorating patient conditions, and life-threatening complications requiring rapid medical judgment.
* Supervise junior doctors, residents, and clinical staff during ICU duties, ensuring safe practice, proper escalation, and strong clinical documentation.
* Maintain accurate medical records, progress notes, treatment decisions, discharge planning details, and ICU care documentation.
* Participate in on-call duties for critical care services and provide expert input during emergency admissions and complex ICU cases.
* Keep updated with developments in critical care medicine, evidence-based ICU protocols, sepsis management, ventilation strategies, and patient safety standards.
* Support continuous education, clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives within the ICU.
* Act as a mentor and role model for junior medical staff, nursing teams, and healthcare professionals working in high-pressure critical care environments.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited institution.
* Board certification in Critical Care Medicine or an equivalent accredited specialist qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant in an Intensive Care Unit setting.
* Western education or Western training is required.
* Strong background in managing critically ill patients, complex ICU cases, emergency interventions, and advanced organ support.
* Proven ability to make quick, informed clinical decisions under pressure.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong track record of delivering high-quality patient care, safe clinical outcomes, and effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Fluency in English is required.
* Arabic language skills are an advantage.
* Experience in a multicultural hospital environment is preferred.
