Position Overview
The Consultant - ICU Critical Care Medicine role in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is for an experienced physician providing advanced care to critically ill adult patients with complex medical, surgical, trauma, and sepsis-related conditions. The consultant will manage high-acuity ICU cases, perform critical care procedures, lead multidisciplinary patient management, and contribute to emergency response, clinical quality, and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill adult patients in the
intensive care unit.
- Deliver advanced life support and critical care management for medical, surgical, trauma, and sepsis cases.
- Perform critical care procedures including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, and ventilator management.
- Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate individualized patient management plans.
- Collaborate with emergency medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, pulmonology, cardiology, and other specialties to provide integrated care.
- Supervise junior physicians, residents, and ICU staff where applicable.
- Maintain compliance with ICU protocols, infection control requirements, and patient safety standards.
- Participate in rapid response teams, code blue management, and hospital emergency preparedness programs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with applicable UAE regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
- Participate in research, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by the relevant UAE health authority.
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesia Critical Care, or Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
- Valid UAE Consultant License or eligibility for consultant licensing.
- Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in ICU or Critical Care Medicine within a tertiary-care hospital.
- ACLS and other relevant critical care certifications are preferred.
- Strong expertise in ventilator management, sepsis management, and critical care procedures.
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and leadership capabilities.
Critical Care Expertise
The consultant should be experienced in high-acuity intensive care and multidisciplinary ICU management. Core clinical capabilities include advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation, intubation, central venous access, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, sepsis management, and advanced life support.
Experience with ECMO, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care ultrasound will be considered an advantage.
Preferred Profile
Experience within multidisciplinary ICUs and high-acuity tertiary-care centers is preferred. Academic, teaching, or research experience is also valued, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multicultural clinical environment.
