This role is suitable for a consultant-level specialist who can diagnose and manage bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections while supporting multidisciplinary clinical teams in a high-acuity healthcare environment.
The position requires strong clinical judgment, deep knowledge of infectious disease protocols, and the ability to manage complex cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and hospital-acquired infections. The selected consultant will also contribute to infection control programs, outbreak response, antibiotic optimization, teaching, audits, research, and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose, treat, and manage a broad range of infectious diseases, including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections
* Manage complex adult cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, hospital-acquired infections, and recurrent or resistant infections
* Provide inpatient and outpatient infectious disease consultations with clear diagnostic planning and evidence-based treatment recommendations
* Lead and support antimicrobial stewardship programs to promote appropriate antibiotic use, reduce resistance risk, and improve patient safety
* Collaborate with ICU, internal medicine, surgery, microbiology, pharmacy, nursing, and infection control teams for coordinated clinical care
* Support infection prevention and control initiatives, including surveillance, policy implementation, clinical guidance, and outbreak management
* Review microbiology results, antimicrobial sensitivities, imaging findings, and clinical data to guide accurate treatment decisions
* Ensure compliance with DHA requirements, hospital protocols, antimicrobial policies, and international clinical guidelines
* Participate in teaching, training, clinical audits, research activities, case reviews, and continuous quality improvement programs
* Provide specialist advice during high-risk infection cases, ICU consultations, surgical infections, and hospital-acquired infection investigations
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a Consultant Infectious Diseases physician with strong tertiary-care or academic hospital experience, especially in complex infection management, antimicrobial stewardship, ICU consultation, and infection control. This role requires excellent diagnostic reasoning, teamwork, communication, and the ability to guide safe care in a multicultural, high-acuity clinical setting.
* MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
* Board Certification or Fellowship in Infectious Diseases
* American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Board, or equivalent qualification is preferred
* Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Infectious Diseases
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-specialist experience in a tertiary-care or academic hospital
* Strong experience in managing complex infectious disease cases and antimicrobial stewardship programs
* Experience in outbreak management and hospital infection control programs is preferred
* Exposure to ICU infectious disease consultation will be an advantage
* Research publications or academic involvement in infectious diseases will add value
* Excellent clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and high-acuity healthcare environment
