Role Context
The
Key Responsibilities
* Perform the full spectrum of neuro-interventional procedures for adult and pediatric patients with complex neurovascular conditions.
* Carry out mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke in line with emergency stroke protocols and multidisciplinary treatment pathways.
* Perform aneurysm coiling, flow-diversion procedures, arteriovenous malformation embolization, arteriovenous fistula embolization, tumor embolization, carotid stenting, intracranial stenting, and spinal vascular interventions.
* Interpret advanced neuroimaging studies including CT, MRI, CTA, MRA, DSA, and related diagnostic imaging for neurovascular disease.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for complex neurovascular, stroke, aneurysm, vascular malformation, and spinal vascular cases.
* Participate in 24-hour stroke and neuro-interventional on-call coverage to support emergency care, rapid assessment, and timely intervention.
* Collaborate closely with neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, critical care, anesthesiology, radiology, oncology, rehabilitation, nursing, and allied healthcare teams.
* Participate in multidisciplinary stroke boards, neurovascular boards, complex case discussions, procedural planning meetings, and post-procedure outcome reviews.
* Contribute to the strategic development and expansion of the neuro-interventional service within the Neurosciences and Radiology Institute.
* Develop, review, and update clinical pathways, protocols, procedural standards, governance frameworks, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support service quality through audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, outcome tracking, documentation accuracy, radiation safety, and patient safety practices.
* Mentor junior radiologists, fellows, residents, technologists, and clinical staff involved in neuroimaging and interventional neuroradiology workflows.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, imaging reports, procedure documentation, consent records, multidisciplinary recommendations, and follow-up plans.
* Stay updated with advances in stroke intervention, endovascular neurosurgery, neuroimaging, embolization technologies, device innovation, and evidence-based neuro-interventional practice.
Ideal Profile
* Medical Degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board Certification in Radiology such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* Fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology, Endovascular Neurosurgery, or a closely related neuro-interventional specialty.
* Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialization experience including consultant-level clinical practice.
* Eligibility for Department of Health Abu Dhabi Consultant licensure is required for the actual work location.
* Demonstrated expertise in advanced neuro-interventional procedures, acute stroke intervention, aneurysm treatment, embolization procedures, neurovascular imaging, and complex endovascular care.
* Strong experience in mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, flow diversion, AVM and AVF embolization, tumor embolization, carotid and intracranial stenting, and spinal vascular interventions.
* Experienced in tertiary-care, academic, neurosciences, radiology institute, or high-volume stroke center settings.
* Strong leadership, communication, clinical judgment, procedural planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
* Fluent English communication skills are required; Arabic language ability is an advantage.
