This role is suited for a consultant-level specialist who can perform diagnostic and therapeutic neuroradiology procedures for adult and pediatric patients while supporting multidisciplinary clinical decision-making and service development.
The position requires strong expertise in acute stroke intervention, aneurysm treatment, vascular malformation embolization, advanced neuroimaging interpretation, and 24/7 neuro-interventional support. The consultant will work closely with neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, radiology, critical care, and stroke teams to deliver safe, timely, and evidence-based care for complex neurovascular cases.

Role Context
The Consultant - Interventional Neuroradiology provides specialist clinical leadership for patients with complex brain, spine, and neurovascular conditions requiring advanced imaging review, endovascular treatment, emergency stroke intervention, or minimally invasive neuro-interventional procedures. The role combines diagnostic precision, procedural expertise, rapid decision-making, and multidisciplinary care coordination.
This position has a direct impact on stroke outcomes, neurological recovery, complication prevention, and long-term patient care. The consultant will contribute to clinical pathways, neurovascular boards, service protocols, quality improvement, teaching, and academic development within the neurosciences and radiology service.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform advanced neuro-interventional procedures, including mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke, aneurysm coiling, flow diversion, AVM and AVF embolization, tumor embolization, carotid stenting, intracranial stenting, and spinal vascular interventions.
* Interpret advanced neuroimaging studies, including CT, MRI, CTA, MRA, DSA, and related vascular imaging used in complex diagnostic and treatment planning.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for patients with neurovascular disease, stroke-related conditions, aneurysms, vascular malformations, spinal vascular disorders, and other complex neurological presentations.
* Participate in 24/7 stroke and neuro-interventional on-call coverage to support urgent diagnosis, emergency decision-making, and time-sensitive procedures.
* Collaborate closely with neurology, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, critical care, radiology, anesthesia, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on imaging findings, clinical presentation, procedural risks, patient condition, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
* Support the strategic growth of the neuro-interventional service through protocol development, pathway improvement, service planning, and clinical governance activity.
* Participate in multidisciplinary stroke boards, neurovascular meetings, complex case discussions, and quality review sessions.
* Communicate diagnoses, procedural options, risks, benefits, expected outcomes, and post-procedure plans clearly to patients and families.
* Provide post-procedure follow-up, monitor recovery progress, identify complications early, and coordinate ongoing care with relevant medical teams.
* Mentor junior radiologists, fellows, residents, medical students, technologists, and clinical staff involved in neuroimaging and interventional services.
* Contribute to clinical research, case reviews, institutional audits, continuing medical education programs, and conference-level academic activity.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized medical institution.
* Board certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Radiology, such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or equivalent.
* Fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology, Endovascular Neurosurgery, or a closely related recognized specialty.
* Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialization experience, including consultant-level practice in neuro-interventional procedures.
* Active DHA license or DHA consultant license eligibility is preferred.
* Proven expertise in acute stroke intervention, mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, flow diversion, AVM embolization, carotid and intracranial stenting, and advanced neurovascular procedures.
* Strong diagnostic ability in CT, MRI, CTA, MRA, DSA, and complex neurovascular imaging interpretation.
* Ability to work effectively in emergency, high-acuity, and multidisciplinary clinical environments.
* Strong leadership, clinical communication, patient counselling, procedural documentation, and academic contribution skills.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language ability is an advantage.
