Role Context
The Consultant - Interventional Neuroradiology will deliver advanced diagnostic and therapeutic neuro-interventional care for patients with complex cerebrovascular, spinal vascular, and neuro-oncology-related conditions. The role is central to acute stroke response, neurovascular treatment planning, procedural safety, and the development of a high-performing neuro-interventional service in Dubai. The consultant will work closely with neurology, neurosurgery, critical care, emergency medicine, radiology, anesthesia, and rehabilitation teams to improve outcomes for high-acuity patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform complex neuro-interventional procedures, including mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke, aneurysm coiling, flow diversion, AVM embolization, AVF embolization, tumor embolization, carotid stenting, intracranial stenting, and spinal vascular interventions.
* Interpret advanced neuroimaging studies, including CT, MRI, CTA, MRA, DSA, and vascular imaging used in neurovascular diagnosis and treatment planning.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for patients with complex stroke, aneurysm, vascular malformation, spinal vascular, and neurovascular conditions.
* Participate in 24-7 stroke and neuro-interventional on-call coverage to support emergency treatment decisions and urgent procedures.
* Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and technologists for coordinated patient care.
* Communicate diagnoses, procedural risks, treatment options, expected outcomes, and recovery plans clearly to patients and families.
* Support post-procedure monitoring, follow-up care, complication prevention, and recovery planning in partnership with multidisciplinary teams.
* Take part in stroke boards, neurovascular meetings, complex case reviews, and multidisciplinary treatment discussions.
* Contribute to the strategic growth of the neuro-interventional service through service planning, protocol development, workflow improvement, and quality initiatives.
* Develop and update clinical pathways for stroke intervention, aneurysm management, embolization procedures, and advanced neurovascular care.
* Mentor junior radiologists, fellows, residents, medical students, and technologists in neuroimaging interpretation, procedural standards, and patient safety.
* Participate in clinical research, case studies, institutional review activities, CME programs, and academic representation at medical conferences.
* Maintain complete clinical documentation, procedure reports, imaging interpretations, consent records, treatment plans, and follow-up notes in line with UAE healthcare standards.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Radiology, such as American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or an equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
* Fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology or Endovascular Neurosurgery from a recognized center.
* Eligibility for UAE consultant licensure, with DHA eligibility preferred for Dubai-based practice.
* Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialization experience, including consultant-level practice in neuro-interventional radiology.
* Proven expertise in stroke intervention, aneurysm treatment, AVM and AVF embolization, tumor embolization, carotid and intracranial stenting, and spinal vascular interventions.
* Advanced ability to interpret CT, MRI, CTA, MRA, DSA, and neurovascular imaging studies.
* Experience in a tertiary-care hospital, academic medical center, stroke center, or advanced neurosciences program.
* Strong leadership ability with confidence in service development, clinical governance, protocol improvement, and multidisciplinary decision-making.
* Excellent communication skills in English, with Arabic language ability considered an advantage.
