Role Context
The Consultant IVF - Fertility Medicine will provide advanced reproductive care for individuals and couples experiencing infertility, hormonal concerns, reproductive challenges, and complex assisted conception needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, procedural accuracy, sensitive patient communication, and close coordination with embryologists, obstetricians, geneticists, psychologists, nurses, and fertility laboratory teams. Working in Saudi Arabia, the consultant will support high-volume fertility services through evidence-based IVF treatment, ethical practice, accurate documentation, and continuous improvement in reproductive medicine outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed fertility consultations, assess patient history, review previous treatment outcomes, and identify suitable reproductive medicine pathways.
* Develop individualized infertility treatment plans based on diagnosis, ovarian reserve, male factor findings, hormonal profile, reproductive history, age, and patient goals.
* Perform and manage IVF procedures including ovarian stimulation review, egg retrieval, sperm preparation coordination, embryo transfer, and related ART procedures.
* Monitor patients throughout treatment cycles, including medication protocols, ultrasound evaluations, follicular tracking, hormonal response, and cycle progress.
* Interpret diagnostic tests such as hormone profiles, ultrasound scans, semen analysis, genetic testing, fertility investigations, and treatment response data.
* Provide evidence-based recommendations for IVF, ICSI, fertility preservation, embryo biopsy, genetic testing support, and advanced reproductive options where appropriate.
* Collaborate with obstetricians, embryologists, geneticists, psychologists, fertility nurses, laboratory teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
* Educate patients on fertility options, treatment steps, procedure risks, expected outcomes, success factors, emotional considerations, and follow-up requirements.
* Provide guidance and training to nurses, embryologists, junior physicians, and fertility clinic staff involved in reproductive medicine services.
* Maintain accurate documentation, consent records, treatment plans, procedure notes, cycle summaries, counseling records, and follow-up reports.
* Ensure compliance with Saudi regulatory requirements, ethical fertility standards, patient confidentiality, clinical governance, and reproductive medicine protocols.
* Participate in research, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, fertility outcome reviews, and continuous professional development.
* Stay updated with advancements in reproductive medicine, assisted reproductive technology, ICSI techniques, embryo biopsy, fertility preservation, and international IVF standards.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
* Minimum 5 years of experience performing IVF and advanced reproductive procedures.
* Must hold or be eligible for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties licensing for the actual work location.
* Strong expertise in reproductive endocrinology, infertility diagnosis, IVF, ICSI, embryo transfer, egg retrieval, and advanced assisted reproductive technology.
* Proficient in ICSI, embryo biopsy, fertility treatment planning, patient monitoring, and evidence-based reproductive care.
* Experienced in working within a fast-paced, high-volume fertility center or reproductive medicine department.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients through sensitive fertility decisions.
* Able to work effectively with embryologists, nurses, obstetricians, geneticists, psychologists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
