The Consultant Neurologist - Adult Neurology will provide expert clinical care for patients with acute, chronic, and complex neurological disorders requiring careful diagnosis, structured treatment planning, advanced diagnostic interpretation, and multidisciplinary follow-up. This role is important because neurological diseases often affect movement, cognition, independence, communication, and quality of life. Working in Riyadh, the consultant will support clinical excellence, education, research, audits, and evidence-based neurology services while helping patients and families understand long-term care pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments, including clinical history review, neurological examination, diagnostic planning, and individualized treatment strategy development.
* Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, movement disorders, neuropathies, and complex neurological presentations.
* Interpret neurodiagnostic investigations including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, lumbar puncture findings, laboratory results, and neurophysiological reports.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient neurology consultations, second opinions, follow-up reviews, and long-term management plans for patients with neurological disorders.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, complex case discussions, care planning reviews, and specialist referral coordination.
* Collaborate with internal medicine, rehabilitation, neurosurgery, radiology, emergency medicine, intensive care, physiotherapy, psychology, nursing, and allied healthcare teams.
* Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and clinical staff involved in neurological patient care.
* Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, medication adherence, warning signs, lifestyle modification, rehabilitation needs, and disease progression.
* Engage in clinical audits, research activity, continuing medical education, case presentations, and evidence-based service improvement initiatives.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, diagnostic interpretations, treatment plans, clinical reports, follow-up records, and patient communication documentation.
* Ensure compliance with SCFHS standards, hospital protocols, patient safety requirements, confidentiality, and ethical medical practice.
* Support a patient-centered approach that combines strong clinical decision-making with clear communication and compassionate long-term care.
Ideal Profile
* Medical Degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Neurology such as Saudi Board, Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, European equivalent, or another recognized specialist qualification.
* Valid classification and registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as a Consultant Neurologist is required for the actual work location.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in clinical neurology.
* Strong expertise in managing stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, neurodegenerative disease, movement disorders, and complex neurological cases.
* Proficient in neuroimaging and neurophysiological diagnostics including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, and lumbar puncture interpretation.
* Experienced in multidisciplinary care, complex case discussion, inpatient consultation, outpatient follow-up, and long-term neurological disease management.
* Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, leadership, and patient counseling skills.
