Consultant Neurologist - Pediatric Care

Pediatric Care will provide specialist diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management for children with neurological conditions that may affect development, movement, learning, behavior, seizures, muscle function, and overall quality of life. This role is clinically important because pediatric neurological disorders often require early recognition, advanced diagnostic interpretation, family-centered counseling, and coordinated care across multiple specialties. Working within a multidisciplinary pediatric environment, the consultant will help improve patient outcomes through evidence-based treatment, neurodiagnostic expertise, and structured follow-up care.

Key Responsibilities

* Diagnose and manage pediatric neurological disorders including epilepsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, neurogenetic conditions, and complex neurological presentations.
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments for infants, children, and adolescents, including clinical examination, medical history review, developmental evaluation, and risk assessment.
* Interpret diagnostic investigations including EEG, MRI, CT, neurophysiological studies, laboratory findings, and specialist reports related to pediatric neurological care.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and long-term management strategies based on diagnosis, disease severity, developmental needs, family priorities, and clinical evidence.
* Manage inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology cases, including acute neurological concerns, chronic disorders, follow-up reviews, and complex multidisciplinary referrals.
* Provide expert care for children with epilepsy, seizure disorders, developmental concerns, neuromuscular disease, headaches, abnormal movements, and suspected genetic neurological conditions.
* Collaborate closely with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, radiologists, nurses, therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, medication plans, seizure safety, developmental expectations, lifestyle guidance, and long-term care needs.
* Participate in multidisciplinary pediatric neuroscience programs, complex case discussions, conferences, and care planning meetings.
* Maintain accurate medical documentation in line with DOH regulations, hospital policies, clinical governance standards, and patient safety requirements.
* Contribute to clinical audits, research activities, academic teaching, continuing medical education programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Stay updated with advancements in pediatric neurology, epilepsy care, pediatric neurophysiology, neurogenetics, and evidence-based treatment pathways.

Ideal Profile

* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from an accredited institution recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Pediatric Neurology.
* Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Pediatric Neurology is required for the actual work location.
* Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist in a reputed tertiary care or academic hospital.
* Strong expertise in pediatric neurological disorders, neurodiagnostic procedures, epilepsy management, developmental neurology, and complex pediatric cases.
* Western-trained candidates are preferred.
* Experience in epilepsy management and pediatric neurophysiology is strongly valued.
* Exposure to multidisciplinary pediatric neuroscience programs is an advantage.
* Research publications, academic involvement, teaching experience, or conference participation are preferred.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain complex neurological conditions clearly to families.
* Able to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with professionalism, empathy, and clinical precision.
