Role Context
The Consultant - Neurology will provide expert neurological assessment, diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, and follow-up care for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. The position requires strong clinical judgment, proficiency in neuroimaging and neurophysiological diagnostics, and the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams. The consultant will contribute to better patient outcomes in Dubai through evidence-based neurology care, accurate diagnosis, patient education, and active involvement in clinical excellence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments, review patient histories, perform detailed examinations, and develop individualized treatment plans.
* Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, movement disorders, neuropathies, and complex neurological presentations.
* Interpret neurodiagnostic tests such as MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, lumbar puncture results, and relevant laboratory investigations.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient neurology consultations for patients requiring specialist evaluation, diagnosis, treatment adjustment, or long-term follow-up.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, complex case discussions, stroke pathway reviews, and integrated neuroscience care planning.
* Collaborate with internal medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, radiology, rehabilitation, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and allied health teams.
* Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and clinical staff involved in neurology services.
* Educate patients and families on neurological conditions, medication plans, rehabilitation needs, lifestyle changes, warning signs, and long-term disease management.
* Engage in clinical audits, research activities, continuing medical education, departmental teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, diagnostic interpretations, treatment plans, progress records, discharge summaries, and follow-up recommendations.
* Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital protocols, patient safety standards, clinical governance, and documentation requirements.
* Support service improvement by helping refine neurology care pathways, referral processes, and patient follow-up systems.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Neurology, such as Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, European equivalent, or other recognized specialist qualification.
* Valid UAE Consultant License or eligibility for consultant-level neurology practice.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in clinical neurology.
* Strong expertise in managing stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, and complex neurological disorders.
* Proficiency in neuroimaging review and neurophysiological diagnostics, including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, and lumbar puncture interpretation.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary hospital, tertiary care, or neuroscience service environment will be an advantage.
* Excellent clinical judgment, decision-making, communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
* Ability to supervise junior doctors and contribute to education, research, audits, and continuing medical education.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic proficiency will be an advantage.
