Role Context
The Consultant - Neurology will provide specialist care for patients with acute, chronic, and complex neurological conditions. The role involves comprehensive neurological assessment, diagnostic interpretation, individualized treatment planning, long-term disease management, multidisciplinary collaboration, and mentorship of junior clinical staff. The consultant will support high standards of neurological care in Dubai by combining clinical precision, evidence-based decision-making, patient communication, and compliance with DHA standards and hospital protocols.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments, including clinical history, physical examination, risk review, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment planning.
* Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, neuropathies, movement disorders, and other complex neurological presentations.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient condition, diagnostic findings, clinical priorities, and evidence-based neurology guidelines.
* Interpret neurodiagnostic tests including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, lumbar puncture findings, and related neurological investigations.
* Provide specialist consultations for inpatient, outpatient, and referred cases requiring advanced neurological assessment.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, stroke discussions, complex case reviews, and coordinated treatment planning with other medical specialties.
* Collaborate with neurosurgery, radiology, rehabilitation, internal medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, nursing, and allied healthcare teams to support integrated patient care.
* Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, manage complications, and support long-term follow-up for chronic neurological disorders.
* Communicate diagnoses, investigation results, treatment options, risks, prognosis, and care plans clearly to patients and families.
* Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and clinical staff through bedside teaching, case discussion, and professional guidance.
* Engage in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, research activities, CME programs, and departmental learning initiatives.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, consultation notes, diagnostic interpretations, treatment plans, referral records, and follow-up reports.
* Ensure all clinical practice follows DHA standards, hospital policies, ethical requirements, patient safety protocols, and confidentiality rules.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Neurology, such as American Board, Canadian Board, Arab Board, European equivalent, or another recognized specialist qualification.
* Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant Neurologist registration in Dubai.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in clinical neurology.
* Strong experience managing stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, neurodegenerative conditions, and complex neurological cases.
* Proficiency in interpreting neuroimaging and neurophysiological diagnostics, including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, and lumbar puncture findings.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary hospital settings, tertiary-care facilities, or advanced neurological services.
* Strong clinical decision-making, communication, leadership, and patient counselling skills.
* Ability to mentor junior doctors, residents, fellows, and clinical team members.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
