Role Context
The
Core Duties
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments, including patient history, physical examination, neurological examination, risk evaluation, and diagnostic planning.
* Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, neuropathy, movement disorders, and neuromuscular conditions.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, symptom severity, imaging findings, neurophysiological results, medication history, and patient goals.
* Interpret neurodiagnostic investigations including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, nerve conduction studies, lumbar puncture results, and relevant laboratory findings.
* Manage inpatient and outpatient neurology consultations for referred patients with complex or ongoing neurological symptoms.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, complex case discussions, stroke reviews, neuroimaging conferences, and care planning sessions.
* Coordinate patient care with neurosurgeons, radiologists, rehabilitation physicians, emergency physicians, intensivists, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists.
* Provide clear counselling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication plans, disease progression, lifestyle changes, and follow-up needs.
* Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and clinical staff in neurological assessment, case management, and evidence-based practice.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including consultation notes, diagnostic interpretations, treatment plans, progress updates, referrals, and follow-up recommendations.
* Engage in clinical audits, research activities, continuing medical education, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with DHA standards, hospital protocols, patient safety policies, ethical medical practice, and international neurology care guidelines.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Neurology such as Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, European equivalent, or another recognized specialist qualification.
* Eligibility for Consultant licensure with Dubai Health Authority.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in clinical neurology.
* Strong expertise in managing stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, and other complex neurological disorders.
* Proficiency in interpreting neuroimaging and neurophysiological diagnostics including MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, and lumbar puncture findings.
* Ability to manage both acute neurological emergencies and long-term chronic neurological disease pathways.
* Excellent communication, decision-making, and leadership skills.
* Strong multidisciplinary teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate care across medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and diagnostic services.
* Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills will be an advantage.
