The role is designed for a consultant who can lead high-acuity surgical care, support multidisciplinary neuroscience services, and contribute to the growth of a high-performing hospital-based neurosurgery program.
This position carries major clinical responsibility in the assessment, surgical planning, operative management, and post-operative care of patients with complex cranial neurosurgical conditions. The consultant will work closely with neurology, ICU, oncology, radiology, rehabilitation, anesthesia, nursing, and allied healthcare teams to deliver safe, evidence-based, and patient-focused outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert diagnosis and management of cranial neurosurgical conditions including brain tumors, trauma, vascular lesions, hydrocephalus, and skull-base disorders.
* Perform complex cranial surgeries using advanced microsurgical, minimally invasive, and image-guided techniques where clinically appropriate.
* Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and coordinate care with neurologists, intensivists, oncologists, radiologists, rehabilitation specialists, anesthetists, and surgical teams.
* Oversee pre-operative evaluation, risk assessment, surgical planning, intraoperative decision-making, and post-operative management.
* Manage high-acuity neurosurgical cases requiring urgent intervention, close monitoring, and coordinated critical care support.
* Apply international clinical quality, patient safety, and patient-experience standards throughout the surgical care pathway.
* Contribute to neuroscience service development, clinical governance, protocol improvement, and structured neurosurgical pathways.
* Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews, surgical audits, clinical outcome reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Mentor junior doctors, residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health staff through teaching, supervision, and case-based learning.
* Support research, innovation, and evidence-based improvements in neurosurgical practice.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Board Certification, CCT, FRCS in Neurosurgery, or an equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-specialty training experience with strong expertise in cranial neurosurgery.
* Proven track record in complex cranial procedures and management of high-acuity neurosurgical cases.
* Experience in a tertiary hospital, academic medical center, or advanced neuroscience program is preferred.
* Strong expertise in brain tumors, cranial trauma, hydrocephalus, vascular lesions, and skull-base surgical care.
* Preferred experience in neuro-oncology, skull-base surgery, neurovascular surgery, or minimally invasive cranial techniques.
* Familiarity with advanced neurosurgical technologies such as neuronavigation, intraoperative imaging, and neuro-monitoring.
* Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
* Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, surgical quality, and continuous professional improvement.
