The Consultant Obstetrician Gynecologist will provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for women across pregnancy, reproductive health, gynecological treatment, and postoperative recovery. A major focus of the role is advanced minimally invasive surgery, allowing suitable patients to benefit from smaller incisions, reduced recovery time, and precise treatment of complex gynecological conditions. The consultant will also manage routine and high-risk pregnancies while coordinating closely with anesthesia, neonatology, radiology, fertility, and surgical teams to improve maternal and gynecological outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consultant-level obstetric and gynecological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
* Manage normal pregnancies and develop individualized care plans for high-risk obstetric cases.
* Deliver comprehensive antenatal monitoring and postnatal follow-up for mothers.
* Perform advanced laparoscopic gynecological surgery using minimally invasive techniques.
* Undertake laparoscopic procedures for appropriate uterine, ovarian, pelvic, and reproductive conditions.
* Diagnose and manage uterine fibroids using medical or surgical approaches based on patient needs.
* Assess and treat endometriosis, including complex cases requiring laparoscopic intervention.
* Diagnose and manage ovarian cysts and other adnexal abnormalities.
* Evaluate infertility-related gynecological conditions and coordinate treatment or specialist fertility referral when required.
* Perform cesarean sections according to clinical indication and established obstetric standards.
* Provide emergency obstetric intervention when maternal or fetal conditions require urgent treatment.
* Conduct detailed pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical plans.
* Monitor postoperative recovery and identify complications requiring timely intervention.
* Review ultrasound, imaging, laboratory, and pathology findings to support clinical decision-making.
* Counsel patients regarding surgical options, fertility implications, treatment risks, expected outcomes, and recovery.
* Collaborate with anesthesiologists, neonatologists, fertility specialists, radiologists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary professionals.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, and follow-up records.
* Follow DHA requirements, hospital policies, patient safety protocols, and recognized international clinical standards.
* Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, quality improvement programs, and surgical governance activities.
* Contribute to medical education, departmental training, case discussions, and continuing professional development.
Ideal Profile
* Medical Degree with recognized specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Fellowship, Board Certification, or equivalent recognized qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Advanced formal training and proven clinical expertise in laparoscopic gynecological surgery.
* Minimum 5 years of consultant-level experience.
* DHA License Eligibility or active DHA License is preferred.
* Strong experience in minimally invasive gynecological procedures.
* Demonstrated expertise in management of normal and high-risk pregnancies.
