The Consultant Obstetrician will focus exclusively on obstetric care, supporting women from early pregnancy assessment through antenatal monitoring, labor, delivery, emergency intervention, and postnatal follow-up. The role is clinically important for managing both normal and high-risk pregnancies, identifying maternal or fetal concerns early, and ensuring coordinated care with neonatology, anesthesia, nursing, and maternity support teams. Strong judgment, calm decision-making, and clear patient communication are essential to maintaining safe maternal and fetal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies with careful clinical assessment, risk identification, monitoring, and individualized care planning.
* Conduct antenatal consultations, pregnancy reviews, postnatal follow-ups, and maternal health assessments in line with accepted clinical standards.
* Supervise labor and delivery procedures while ensuring mother and baby safety throughout the childbirth process.
* Perform emergency obstetric interventions, including cesarean sections and urgent delivery-related procedures when clinically required.
* Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing through examination, diagnostic review, fetal surveillance, and timely escalation of concerns.
* Provide specialist input for complex pregnancy cases involving maternal-fetal medicine, pregnancy complications, previous obstetric risks, or urgent clinical changes.
* Coordinate closely with neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, midwives, operating theatre teams, and other healthcare professionals.
* Communicate clearly with patients and families about pregnancy progress, delivery options, clinical risks, emergency decisions, and postnatal care needs.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, delivery notes, consent documentation, operative reports, and follow-up plans.
* Follow international obstetric care standards, UAE healthcare regulations, patient safety protocols, infection control practices, and ethical medical guidelines.
* Contribute to maternity service quality through case discussions, clinical review, audit participation, and continuous professional development.
Ideal Profile
* Medical Degree with recognized specialization in Obstetrics.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Obstetrics.
* Female candidate preferred as per operational requirement.
* DOH license eligibility or active DOH license is preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of consultant-level experience in obstetrics.
* Strong expertise in maternal-fetal medicine, high-risk obstetrics, antenatal care, labor management, emergency obstetric care, and cesarean sections.
