Role Context
The Consultant - Obstetrics and Gynecology will provide advanced clinical and surgical care for women across pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal recovery, reproductive health, and gynecological conditions. The role includes antenatal management, intrapartum decision-making, postnatal care, minimally invasive surgery, fertility-related procedures, and close collaboration with neonatologists, anesthetists, fertility specialists, midwives, and nursing teams. The consultant will help strengthen women’s healthcare services in Dubai through evidence-based practice, safe surgery, patient education, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies.
* Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing throughout pregnancy and provide timely clinical intervention when complications arise.
* Perform gynecological surgeries including laparoscopy, hysterectomy, fertility-related procedures, and other indicated women’s health interventions.
* Diagnose and treat menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, hormonal conditions, reproductive health concerns, and common gynecological disorders.
* Develop individualized care plans for obstetric and gynecological patients based on history, clinical findings, investigations, and patient needs.
* Collaborate with neonatologists, anesthetists, fertility specialists, radiologists, midwives, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Provide patient education on pregnancy care, delivery options, reproductive health, preventive screening, fertility support, and postnatal recovery.
* Support safe childbirth services, including delivery planning, emergency escalation, and coordinated care for complex maternity cases.
* Participate in clinical audits, research activities, morbidity reviews, continuous quality improvement, and departmental governance initiatives.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, consultation notes, delivery records, surgical reports, consent documentation, and follow-up plans.
* Follow hospital protocols, patient safety standards, infection control policies, and UAE healthcare regulatory requirements.
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and families, ensuring cultural sensitivity and confidence throughout the care journey.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Fellowship or subspecialty training in areas such as Maternal Fetal Medicine or Reproductive Endocrinology is preferred.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-certification experience in obstetrics and gynecology.
* Strong clinical expertise in prenatal care, postnatal care, delivery management, gynecological diagnosis, and women’s health surgery.
* Skilled in procedures such as laparoscopy, hysterectomy, fertility-related interventions, and complex gynecological case management.
* Strong diagnostic and surgical decision-making skills.
* Experience working in maternity, fertility, or multidisciplinary women’s health services will be an advantage.
* Excellent communication skills with cultural sensitivity and a patient-centered approach.
* Ability to work effectively with neonatology, anesthesia, fertility, nursing, and allied healthcare teams.
