Role Context
The Consultant - Obstetrics and Gynecology will deliver expert medical and surgical care for women across different life stages, from reproductive health and pregnancy through delivery, postnatal recovery, menopause, and long-term wellness. The role combines routine and high-risk obstetric care, gynecological diagnosis, minimally invasive surgery, cesarean sections, preventive screenings, family planning support, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The consultant will help strengthen women’s healthcare services in Dubai by supporting safe maternity outcomes, timely diagnosis, effective treatment plans, and patient-centered care in a multicultural healthcare environment.
Core Duties
* Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological consultations for outpatient and inpatient cases, ensuring accurate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
* Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies, including antenatal reviews, fetal wellbeing monitoring, labor supervision, delivery planning, emergency obstetric care, and postnatal support.
* Diagnose and treat gynecological disorders including menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, infertility-related concerns, fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, hormonal disorders, and menopausal conditions.
* Perform gynecological and obstetric surgical procedures including cesarean sections, minor gynecological interventions, and minimally invasive procedures where clinically applicable.
* Conduct routine women’s health screenings, preventive care services, cervical screening, breast health guidance, reproductive health counselling, and early detection support.
* Develop individualized care plans based on patient history, clinical findings, diagnostic results, pregnancy status, reproductive goals, and long-term health needs.
* Collaborate with neonatologists, anesthetists, radiologists, fertility specialists, nurses, midwives, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe and coordinated patient care.
* Educate patients regarding reproductive health, pregnancy care, family planning, contraception options, fertility awareness, preventive healthcare, medication use, and post-treatment follow-up.
* Maintain accurate medical records, including consultation notes, delivery records, operative reports, consent documentation, investigation results, and follow-up recommendations.
* Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital protocols, patient safety standards, infection control procedures, and clinical governance requirements.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, CME programs, departmental meetings, case reviews, and professional development activities.
* Communicate with patients and families clearly, respectfully, and compassionately, especially during sensitive obstetric, gynecological, fertility, and surgical discussions.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Valid UAE Consultant license or eligibility for consultant-level Obstetrics and Gynecology practice.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputed hospital.
* Female candidate required as per operational and patient-care needs.
* Strong expertise in obstetrics, gynecology, women’s health management, maternity care, and complex gynecological conditions.
* Experience in minimally invasive gynecological procedures and laparoscopic surgery will be an advantage.
* Exposure to high-risk obstetric cases in tertiary care settings is preferred.
