Role Context
The Consultant - Obstetrics will
manage normal and complex pregnancies with a strong focus on maternal safety, fetal wellbeing, clinical accuracy, and timely decision-making. The position covers antenatal consultations, high-risk pregnancy monitoring, labor and delivery management, emergency obstetric care, cesarean sections, postnatal review, and multidisciplinary coordination with neonatology, anesthesia, nursing, midwifery, radiology, and intensive care teams. The consultant will contribute to a trusted maternity service in Dubai by helping ensure safe birth outcomes, clear patient communication, and consistent adherence to international clinical standards.
What You’ll Do
* Manage normal pregnancies and high-risk obstetric cases through structured assessment, monitoring, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
* Conduct antenatal consultations, pregnancy reviews, fetal growth assessments, maternal health checks, and risk-based clinical evaluations.
* Provide postnatal consultations focused on maternal recovery, post-delivery concerns, complication review, and ongoing care planning.
* Supervise labor and delivery procedures while ensuring safe clinical decisions for both mother and baby.
* Perform emergency obstetric interventions, including cesarean sections and urgent management of pregnancy-related complications.
* Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing throughout pregnancy using clinical examination, diagnostic results, imaging findings, and evidence-based protocols.
* Identify and manage obstetric risks such as hypertensive disorders, gestational diabetes, fetal growth concerns, preterm labor, previous cesarean risks, and complex maternal conditions.
* Collaborate closely with neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, midwives, sonographers, emergency teams, and allied healthcare professionals.
* Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, delivery plans, procedure risks, and expected outcomes.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including consultation notes, delivery records, consent forms, operative reports, and postnatal follow-up plans.
* Support patient safety, infection control, clinical governance, audit participation, and quality improvement within maternity services.
* Stay updated with advances in obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, emergency obstetric care, and international maternity care standards.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Specialization in Obstetrics with board certification, fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* DOH license eligibility or active DOH license.
* Minimum 5 years of consultant-level experience in obstetrics.
* Female candidate preferred as per operational requirement.
* Strong expertise in maternal-fetal medicine, high-risk obstetrics, labor management, antenatal care, and emergency obstetric procedures.
* Proven ability to manage complex pregnancy cases with calm judgment, clinical precision, and patient-focused communication.
* Experience performing cesarean sections and urgent obstetric interventions in a hospital environment.
