Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose acute, chronic, and complex ocular conditions across a diverse patient population.
* Manage eye diseases using evidence-based treatment plans, appropriate follow-up, patient education, and long-term care strategies.
* Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures according to subspecialty expertise, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, retinal, or related eye surgeries.
* Interpret diagnostic imaging and clinical investigations such as OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, ocular ultrasound, and other ophthalmology assessments.
* Provide pre-operative evaluation, surgical planning, informed consent discussion, and post-operative care to support safe patient outcomes.
* Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, anesthesiologists, technicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated ophthalmic care.
* Educate patients in Arabic and English on eye health, diagnosis, treatment options, surgery expectations, medication use, and preventive care.
* Maintain accurate and compliant medical records, procedure notes, imaging reports, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, patient safety reviews, and service development activities.
* Contribute to training and mentorship for junior doctors, residents, nurses, technicians, and allied health professionals.
* Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology, surgical techniques, diagnostic tools, and modern patient-care practices.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Ophthalmology from a recognized authority.
* Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in ophthalmology.
* Fluency in Arabic is required.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to support patients clearly and compassionately.
* Proficiency in ophthalmic surgeries relevant to the candidate’s subspecialty.
* Strong knowledge of ocular disease diagnosis, medical eye care, surgical planning, and post-operative management.
* Ability to interpret ophthalmic diagnostic imaging and use findings to guide treatment decisions.
* Comfortable working in a multicultural and fast-paced clinical environment.
* Commitment to patient safety, clinical documentation, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
* Eligibility for regional healthcare consultant licensing is preferred.
