Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose a wide range of ocular conditions across diverse patient groups.
* Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures and surgeries, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, retinal, or other subspecialty-related interventions.
* Manage acute and chronic eye diseases using evidence-based treatment plans and appropriate follow-up care.
* Interpret diagnostic imaging and clinical tests, including OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, ocular ultrasound, and related ophthalmology investigations.
* Provide pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, informed consent support, and post-operative patient care.
* Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, technicians, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe outcomes.
* Educate patients in Arabic and English on eye health, treatment options, medication use, surgery expectations, and preventive care.
* Maintain accurate medical records, consultation notes, procedure reports, imaging findings, consent documentation, and follow-up plans.
* Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety activities.
* Train and mentor junior doctors, residents, nurses, technicians, and allied health staff.
* Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology and integrate suitable new techniques into clinical practice.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Ophthalmology from a recognized authority.
* Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in ophthalmology.
* Fluency in Arabic is required.
* Proficiency in ophthalmic surgeries relevant to the candidate’s subspecialty.
* Strong understanding of ocular disease diagnosis, medical eye care, surgical planning, and post-operative management.
* Ability to interpret OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, ultrasound, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools.
* Excellent communication skills with a culturally sensitive and patient-centered approach.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced clinical environment.
* Eligibility for regional healthcare consultant licensing is preferred.
