Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose a wide range of ocular conditions affecting vision, eye function, and long-term ocular health.
* Perform advanced ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, and retinal procedures according to subspecialty expertise and clinical privileges.
* Manage acute and chronic eye diseases using evidence-based treatment plans and appropriate follow-up care.
* Interpret diagnostic imaging and clinical investigations such as OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, ocular ultrasound, and related ophthalmic tests.
* Provide pre-operative assessment, patient counseling, surgical planning, post-operative care, and recovery monitoring.
* Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, technicians, anesthetists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver coordinated patient care.
* Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, medication use, surgical expectations, and preventive measures.
* Maintain accurate and compliant medical records in line with UAE healthcare regulations and facility documentation standards.
* Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety reviews, and clinical audits.
* Support the training and mentorship of junior doctors, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.
* Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology and apply suitable new techniques, technologies, and clinical practices.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Ophthalmology.
* Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in ophthalmology.
* Proficiency in ophthalmic surgeries relevant to the candidate’s subspecialty.
* Fluency in Arabic is required for effective patient communication.
* Strong English communication skills for documentation and multidisciplinary coordination.
* Must hold or be eligible for Dubai Health Authority licensing.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced clinical environment.
