Clinical Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic pain conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans
using pharmacological, interventional, and non-pharmacological pain management approaches.
- Perform nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, and joint injections where clinically appropriate.
- Undertake other image-guided pain interventions within appropriate professional training and credentials.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans to improve pain control and functional outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about pain management strategies, treatment options, and appropriate lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital policies and applicable regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing medical education.
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians and allied healthcare professionals where applicable.
Multidisciplinary Pain Care
The Consultant in Pain Management will work closely with Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Oncology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Physiotherapy, and other relevant disciplines. This multidisciplinary approach supports coordinated management for patients whose pain conditions require medical, interventional, rehabilitative, or combined treatment strategies.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Completion of an accredited residency in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology, or a related specialty.
- Fellowship or Subspecialty Certification in Pain Management or Pain Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Board Certification in the relevant primary specialty and Pain Management.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of post-board experience as a Consultant in Pain Management.
- Experience managing a broad range of acute and chronic pain disorders.
- Expertise in interventional pain management procedures is highly preferred.
- Previous experience within a tertiary care hospital is an advantage.
Licensing and Clinical Skills
- Appropriate UAE professional medical license or eligibility is required according to the employing facility and regulatory authority.
- Strong expertise in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic pain conditions.
