Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Hospital and Health Care opportunity for an experienced physician with advanced expertise in pediatric cardiac intensive care, congenital heart disease, post-operative cardiac ICU management, and complex pediatric cardiac emergencies. The role is suited for a consultant who can lead high-acuity PCICU care for neonates, infants, and children while supporting multidisciplinary service development, clinical governance, family-centered care, and academic excellence.
This position plays a critical role in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU by managing children before and after congenital heart surgery, supporting interventional cardiology cases, stabilizing cardiac emergencies, and guiding advanced therapies such as ECMO, mechanical ventilation, and hemodynamic monitoring. The consultant will work closely with pediatric cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, nurses, intensivists, and allied health teams to deliver safe and coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive critical care management for pediatric cardiac patients in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU.
* Stabilize and optimize neonates, infants, and children before congenital heart surgery or cardiac intervention.
* Manage post-operative care following congenital heart surgery, including ventilation, hemodynamic support, arrhythmia monitoring, and recovery planning.
* Care for patients undergoing pediatric interventional cardiology procedures and coordinate ICU support before and after procedures.
* Manage complex cardiac conditions including heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiomyopathies, low cardiac output states, and post-surgical complications.
* Lead advanced PCICU therapies including ECMO support, mechanical ventilation, invasive monitoring, and advanced hemodynamic management.
* Conduct daily PCICU rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans with cardiac surgery, cardiology, anesthesia, perfusion, nursing, and allied health teams.
* Interpret and manage complex clinical data including echocardiography findings, hemodynamic studies, laboratory trends, and advanced imaging reports.
* Provide on-call coverage for pediatric cardiac emergencies and urgent critical care decisions.
* Contribute to the strategic growth and service development of the Pediatric Cardiac ICU.
* Develop and update clinical pathways, ICU protocols, quality improvement plans, and patient safety initiatives.
* Mentor junior physicians, fellows, residents, and critical care nursing staff through teaching, supervision, and bedside clinical guidance.
* Communicate complex clinical information clearly and compassionately to families during critical illness, treatment decisions, and long-term care planning.
* Participate in research, audits, institutional CME programs, quality projects, teaching activities, and professional conferences.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Cardiology, or Pediatric Anesthesiology.
* Fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care.
* Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialization experience, including consultant-level practice in a high-volume cardiac center.
* Strong expertise in managing complex congenital heart disease and post-operative pediatric cardiac ICU patients.
* Eligibility for Dubai Health Authority Consultant licensure.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary PCICU rounds and make confident decisions in high-acuity cardiac critical care cases.
* Strong experience with ECMO, mechanical ventilation, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiac surgical recovery.
* Excellent leadership, communication, teaching, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills are an advantage.
* Strong commitment to family-centered care, clinical governance, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
