Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon - Transplant Surgery in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Hospital and Health Care opportunity for an experienced surgeon specializing in complex congenital heart surgery, neonatal cardiac procedures, pediatric cardiac transplantation, and advanced surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents. This role is suitable for a consultant-level pediatric cardiac surgeon with proven transplant program experience and strong capability in managing high-risk surgical cases within a tertiary pediatric cardiac center.
The position requires advanced operative expertise, clinical leadership, and close collaboration with pediatric cardiology, ICU, anesthesia, perfusion, transplant coordination, nursing, and multidisciplinary cardiac teams. The selected consultant will support high-quality pediatric cardiac outcomes through complex surgery, transplant planning, perioperative care, academic contribution, clinical governance, and cardiac program development.

Key Responsibilities
* Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries, including congenital heart defect repairs, redo cardiac surgeries, and high-risk neonatal cardiac procedures
* Lead and participate in pediatric heart transplantation programs, including donor evaluation, recipient selection, surgical transplantation, and post-operative management
* Provide preoperative and postoperative surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with complex cardiac conditions
* Manage critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in collaboration with ICU, pediatric cardiology, anesthesia, perfusion, nursing, and transplant teams
* Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac conferences, surgical planning meetings, transplant reviews, and complex case discussions
* Maintain high standards of surgical safety, infection control, perioperative care, and patient outcome monitoring
* Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows, residents, and surgical trainees involved in pediatric cardiac surgery
* Contribute to clinical research, audits, publications, academic activities, and continuing medical education in pediatric cardiac surgery
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with DHA requirements, hospital protocols, and cardiac program standards
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives, surgical pathway development, transplant service planning, and pediatric cardiac program growth
* Support ECMO and advanced mechanical circulatory support pathways where clinically required
* Communicate clearly and compassionately with families regarding surgical planning, risks, recovery, and long-term care expectations
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon with advanced fellowship training, direct pediatric heart transplantation experience, and strong expertise in neonatal and complex congenital cardiac surgery. This role requires excellent operative judgment, leadership in high-risk surgical settings, and the ability to collaborate effectively across a specialized pediatric cardiac care team.
* MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
* Board Certification or Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery
* Subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery
* Additional advanced training or direct experience in pediatric heart transplantation is mandatory
* Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant Cardiac Surgery
* Minimum 7-10 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery, including transplant program involvement
* Strong expertise in neonatal cardiac surgery, complex congenital heart surgery, redo operations, and high-risk pediatric cardiac procedures
* Experience with ECMO and advanced mechanical circulatory support will be an advantage
* Exposure to high-volume pediatric cardiac transplant centers is preferred
* Academic, research, audit, or publication background in pediatric cardiac surgery will add value
* Excellent surgical skill, leadership ability, family communication, documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
