Role Context
The
Consultant - Pediatric Dermatology will provide expert clinical care for children and teenagers with a wide range of dermatological conditions affecting the skin, hair, nails, and related tissues. The role requires careful assessment, age-appropriate communication, procedural skill, treatment monitoring, and close collaboration with pediatricians, allergists, immunologists, nurses, and other specialists. The consultant will help strengthen pediatric dermatology services in Dubai by supporting early diagnosis, safe treatment, preventive education, and long-term disease control for young patients and their families.
Core Duties
* Diagnose and treat pediatric skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, acne, birthmarks, skin infections, allergic skin disorders, genetic skin diseases, hair disorders, and nail conditions.
* Perform comprehensive dermatological assessments using clinical examination, medical history review, diagnostic testing, and age-appropriate evaluation methods.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on the child’s condition, age, symptoms, medical background, family concerns, and long-term care needs.
* Conduct dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies, cryotherapy, laser treatments, lesion management, and minor surgical interventions where clinically appropriate.
* Manage chronic pediatric skin conditions with structured follow-up, medication review, flare prevention, and family-centered counselling.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, allergists, immunologists, infectious disease specialists, geneticists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
* Educate parents, caregivers, and young patients on disease prevention, skin care routines, medication use, trigger avoidance, treatment expectations, and follow-up planning.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including consultation notes, diagnostic findings, consent documentation, treatment plans, and procedure records.
* Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and service development activities.
* Stay current with advances in pediatric dermatology through continuing medical education, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
* Ensure all care follows UAE healthcare regulations, patient safety standards, infection control procedures, ethical medical practice, and hospital policies.
* Communicate with empathy and clarity to help families understand diagnoses, chronic disease pathways, procedural options, and long-term skin health management.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
* Completion of a recognized residency in Dermatology.
* Fellowship or specialized training in Pediatric Dermatology is preferred.
* Board certification or equivalent specialty certification in Dermatology.
* Eligibility for or possession of a valid UAE healthcare license for consultant-level practice.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in Pediatric Dermatology is preferred.
* Strong diagnostic, clinical, and procedural skills in pediatric skin, hair, and nail disorders.
