The position requires strong decision-making, advanced resuscitation capability, and the ability to coordinate with pediatric subspecialists, intensivists, surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams. The selected consultant will play an important role in improving emergency department outcomes, supporting junior medical staff, and contributing to clinical quality, teaching, and emergency preparedness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose, and manage pediatric emergency cases involving acute illness, trauma, surgical emergencies, and life-threatening conditions
* Provide immediate stabilization and advanced resuscitation for critically ill or injured infants, children, and adolescents
* Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, intubation, lumbar puncture, procedural sedation, trauma care, and acute clinical intervention
* Lead urgent clinical decision-making for pediatric patients presenting with respiratory distress, seizures, shock, injury, infection, dehydration, and other emergency conditions
* Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, intensivists, surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and allied healthcare teams for coordinated patient management
* Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and emergency department medical staff during clinical shifts
* Ensure accurate and timely medical documentation in line with DHA requirements, hospital policies, and clinical governance standards
* Participate in emergency preparedness, disaster response planning, infection control, and patient safety programs
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, teaching activities, research work, and continuing medical education programs
* Maintain a calm, structured, and patient-centered approach while supporting families during urgent and stressful medical situations
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a confident Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine Specialist with strong experience in tertiary-care emergency departments, pediatric resuscitation, trauma management, and acute child healthcare. This role requires clinical speed, sound judgment, leadership under pressure, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural hospital environment.
* MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
* Board Certification or Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
* Emergency Medicine qualification with pediatric emergency specialization may also be considered
* Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in pediatric emergency medicine within a tertiary-care hospital
* Strong expertise in pediatric resuscitation, trauma care, emergency stabilization, and critical pediatric presentations
* PALS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications are preferred
* Experience in pediatric trauma centers, academic hospitals, or high-volume emergency departments will be an advantage
* Exposure to pediatric critical care, emergency preparedness, or disaster medicine is preferred
* Research, teaching, and clinical audit involvement will add value
* Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and rapid decision-making skills
