Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist will provide specialized endocrine care for young patients with hormonal, metabolic, growth, diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, pubertal, and obesity-related disorders. This role is important because pediatric endocrine conditions often require early diagnosis, detailed interpretation of hormonal investigations, long-term follow-up, family education, and coordinated care with multiple pediatric specialties. Working in Sharjah, the consultant will help improve clinical outcomes through evidence-based treatment, advanced diabetes management, multidisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered counseling for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric endocrine disorders including diabetes mellitus, growth disorders, thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders, obesity, puberty abnormalities, and other hormonal conditions.
* Conduct comprehensive endocrine evaluations for infants, children, and adolescents using clinical assessment, growth review, family history, diagnostic testing, and metabolic investigation results.
* Interpret hormonal profiles, metabolic investigations, laboratory findings, growth charts, imaging reports, and related diagnostic data to support accurate clinical decisions.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and long-term follow-up strategies based on diagnosis, age, growth pattern, disease severity, family needs, and international clinical standards.
* Manage pediatric diabetes programs including insulin therapy, insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring systems, glucose control reviews, complication prevention, and structured family education.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for pediatric endocrine cases, including complex referrals, emergency endocrine concerns, and chronic disease follow-up.
* Support care for children with advanced diabetes technology needs, metabolic endocrine disorders, genetic endocrine conditions, and complex hormonal presentations.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, dietitians, neonatologists, diabetes educators, geneticists, radiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Educate patients and families on disease management, medication use, insulin care, nutrition, lifestyle modification, monitoring routines, warning signs, and treatment adherence.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment plans, medication records, investigation reviews, follow-up instructions, and clinical documentation in compliance with MOH UAE regulations and hospital policies.
* Participate in clinical audits, research work, quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuing medical education programs.
* Ensure ethical practice, patient confidentiality, family-centered communication, clinical governance, and high standards of pediatric endocrine care.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by MOH UAE.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Pediatric Endocrinology.
* Valid MOH UAE Consultant License or Eligibility Letter is required for the actual work location in Sharjah.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Pediatric Endocrinology within a reputed tertiary care or academic hospital.
* Strong expertise in pediatric diabetes, endocrine disorders, metabolic conditions, growth concerns, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, obesity, and puberty abnormalities.
* Experienced in advanced diabetes technologies including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems.
* Exposure to multidisciplinary endocrine clinics, pediatric metabolic disorders, and genetic endocrine conditions is preferred.
* Academic, teaching, clinical audit, or research experience is an advantage.
* Excellent communication and family counseling skills, especially when supporting children with chronic or complex endocrine conditions.
* Able to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with pediatricians, dietitians, diabetes educators, genetic specialists, and nursing teams.
