Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatric ENT will provide expert clinical and surgical care for children with a wide range of otolaryngology conditions, including airway, ear, sinus, tonsil, adenoid, hearing, speech-related, and congenital ENT concerns. The role supports accurate diagnosis, timely intervention, family counselling, and coordinated care with pediatricians, audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, and other specialists. Strong surgical judgment and child-focused communication are essential for improving clinical outcomes and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric ENT disorders, including congenital abnormalities, recurrent infections, airway concerns, hearing-related conditions, sinus disease, and other acquired ENT problems.
* Perform pediatric otolaryngology procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, and related ENT interventions.
* Assess complex pediatric ENT cases and provide specialist consultations, treatment recommendations, and second opinions when required.
* Interpret diagnostic findings from audiograms, CT scans, MRI studies, endoscopic assessments, and other relevant investigations.
* Work closely with audiologists, speech therapists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and nursing teams to deliver coordinated child-centered care.
* Counsel parents and families on diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, recovery expectations, and long-term care requirements.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, operative notes, consultation reports, and follow-up documentation in line with hospital policies.
* Participate in clinical audits, departmental meetings, CME activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support supervision and mentoring of junior doctors, medical students, and clinical team members when required.
* Follow evidence-based practice, infection control standards, patient safety protocols, and ethical medical guidelines.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with recognized specialization in Otolaryngology or ENT.
* Fellowship, board certification, or advanced training in Pediatric ENT is preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience, with strong exposure to pediatric ENT cases.
* Western-trained background is required.
* Proven surgical experience in tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, and pediatric ENT procedures.
* Strong ability to diagnose and manage congenital and acquired ENT conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in hospital or specialist clinic settings.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex ENT conditions clearly to parents and caregivers.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills will be an advantage.
* Strong clinical judgment, documentation standards, professionalism, and commitment to child-focused patient care.
