Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatric ENT will provide specialist care for children with congenital and acquired ENT conditions affecting hearing, speech development, breathing, sleep quality, sinus health, airway function, and overall pediatric wellbeing. The role requires strong diagnostic ability, surgical precision, family-focused communication, and close coordination with pediatricians, audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals. In Dubai’s growing pediatric healthcare market, this position supports advanced ENT services, safer surgical care, early intervention, and improved long-term outcomes for young patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric ENT disorders, including congenital abnormalities, acquired ear conditions, airway concerns, tonsil and adenoid disease, sinus disorders, hearing-related issues, and complex otolaryngology cases.
* Perform pediatric ENT surgical procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, and other indicated otolaryngologic interventions.
* Provide outpatient consultations, inpatient reviews, second opinions, and follow-up care for children requiring specialized ENT assessment.
* Interpret diagnostic tests including audiograms, CT scans, MRIs, endoscopic findings, hearing assessments, and other ENT-related investigations.
* Collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare teams to deliver integrated pediatric care.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient age, clinical presentation, diagnostic results, surgical need, family concerns, and long-term care goals.
* Educate parents and families on diagnosis, treatment options, surgical expectations, risks, recovery plans, hearing support, speech impact, and preventive ENT care.
* Manage pre-operative assessment, surgical consent discussions, post-operative follow-up, complication monitoring, and recovery planning for pediatric ENT patients.
* Provide clear clinical guidance for children with recurrent infections, hearing concerns, speech-delay associations, airway symptoms, sleep-disordered breathing, and complex referral needs.
* Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, consultation notes, operative reports, imaging reviews, consent documentation, and follow-up plans.
* Ensure clinical practice follows hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection control protocols, documentation requirements, and applicable UAE healthcare regulations.
* Participate in clinical audits, departmental meetings, morbidity reviews, CME activities, and quality-improvement initiatives.
* Supervise and mentor junior doctors, medical students, nurses, and clinical team members when required.
* Stay updated with advances in pediatric otolaryngology, minimally invasive ENT surgery, hearing care, airway management, and evidence-based pediatric practice.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized medical institution with specialization in Otolaryngology.
* Fellowship or board certification in Pediatric ENT is preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience, with a strong focus on pediatric ENT cases.
* Must be Western-trained.
* Proven experience diagnosing and treating pediatric ENT disorders in infants, children, and adolescents.
* Strong surgical background in pediatric otolaryngology, including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, and endoscopic sinus procedures.
* Ability to interpret audiograms, CT scans, MRIs, and other diagnostic tests relevant to pediatric ENT care.
* Experience working with audiologists, speech therapists, pediatricians, radiologists, and multidisciplinary pediatric teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support children and families through diagnosis and treatment.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills are an advantage.
