Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatric Gastroenterology will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, procedural care, and long-term management for infants, children, and adolescents with gastrointestinal, hepatology, pancreatic, feeding, and nutrition-related conditions. The position requires advanced clinical judgment, strong procedural capability, careful documentation, and compassionate communication with families. Working in Dubai’s healthcare sector, the consultant will support specialized pediatric GI services through evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary coordination, research involvement, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, feeding, and nutritional disorders across infants, children, and adolescents.
* Treat conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, GERD, chronic abdominal pain, constipation, liver diseases, feeding disorders, and related pediatric digestive concerns.
* Perform pediatric GI procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy in line with clinical indications, safety protocols, and international care standards.
* Conduct detailed assessments using medical history, physical examination, growth review, laboratory tests, imaging, nutritional status, and endoscopic findings.
* Develop individualized treatment and nutritional management plans based on diagnosis, age, growth needs, family concerns, and clinical progress.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, dietitians, radiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Provide patient and family education regarding gastrointestinal health, nutrition, medication use, procedure preparation, preventive care, and follow-up requirements.
* Monitor long-term outcomes for children with chronic GI and hepatology conditions, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
* Maintain accurate medical records, consultation notes, procedure reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, and follow-up summaries.
* Ensure adherence to DHA requirements, hospital policies, international clinical standards, patient safety protocols, and ethical medical practice.
* Participate in departmental quality initiatives, clinical audits, research activity, continuing medical education, and specialty case discussions.
* Support leadership within the pediatric GI service through clear communication, multidisciplinary teamwork, and guidance for junior clinical staff when required.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with specialization in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology.
* American Board Certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology is preferred.
* Arabic speaker is mandatory for effective patient and family communication.
* DHA license eligibility or active DHA license as a Consultant Pediatric Gastroenterologist is preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of consultant-level experience in pediatric gastroenterology.
* Strong expertise in pediatric endoscopic procedures, including endoscopy and colonoscopy.
* Advanced knowledge of pediatric GI care, hepatology disorders, pancreatic conditions, feeding concerns, and nutritional management.
* Proven ability to manage inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, GERD, chronic abdominal pain, constipation, liver diseases, and feeding disorders.
* Strong communication, leadership, and patient-management skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
