The Consultant Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist plays a critical role in managing complex pediatric blood diseases and cancer treatments that require specialist expertise, precision, and compassionate care. This position supports hospital excellence by improving survival outcomes, leading multidisciplinary treatment pathways, and guiding families through every stage of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric hematological disorders including anemia, hemophilia, thalassemia, sickle cell disease, clotting disorders, and bone marrow conditions
* Provide specialist treatment for pediatric cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, and other oncological diseases
* Develop individualized treatment plans involving chemotherapy, transfusion protocols, supportive care, and long-term monitoring
* Lead inpatient and outpatient consultations for children and adolescents requiring hematology and oncology services
* Collaborate closely with pediatricians, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, and critical care teams for multidisciplinary care
* Support bone marrow transplant coordination and complex oncology case management where required
* Provide counseling, education, and emotional support to patients and families throughout the treatment journey
* Supervise junior doctors, fellows, and nursing staff while contributing to specialist teaching and mentoring
* Participate in clinical audits, research activities, tumor boards, and continuous medical education programs
* Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with DHA regulations and hospital governance standards
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
* Board certification or equivalent consultant qualification in Pediatric Hematology Oncology
* Extensive consultant-level experience managing pediatric hematologic and oncologic conditions
* Strong expertise in chemotherapy protocols, transfusion medicine, and pediatric cancer management
* Excellent communication and family-centered patient care approach
* Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary tertiary-care hospital environments
* Strong leadership, decision-making, and clinical governance skills
