Key Responsibilities
* Deliver consultant-level care for critically ill pediatric patients with complex medical, surgical, respiratory, cardiac, neurological, infectious, and post-operative conditions.
* Lead daily PICU rounds, review patient progress, and make timely clinical decisions to support stabilization, recovery, and safe outcomes.
* Perform and supervise advanced pediatric critical care procedures, including mechanical ventilation, ECMO support, invasive monitoring, airway management, and emergency stabilization.
* Develop individualized treatment plans for high-acuity children based on diagnosis, clinical status, organ support needs, and recovery goals.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated critical care.
* Communicate clearly and compassionately with families regarding patient condition, treatment options, risks, progress, and care expectations.
* Mentor junior doctors, residents, nurses, and clinical staff while contributing to PICU education, case learning, simulation training, and professional development.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives, patient safety reviews, clinical audits, morbidity discussions, and PICU protocol development.
* Maintain accurate patient records, treatment plans, procedure notes, progress reports, consent documentation, and critical care handover details.
* Participate in clinical research, continuous medical education, and service development related to pediatric intensive care and pediatric critical care medicine.
* Stay current with international PICU advancements, life-support technologies, infection control practices, and evidence-based pediatric critical care standards.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Pediatric Intensive Care or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
* Western training from the USA, UK, Canada, or equivalent system is mandatory.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-board experience in a consultant PICU role.
* Eligible for DHA Consultant licensure in Dubai.
* Proven expertise in advanced pediatric critical care techniques, including mechanical ventilation, ECMO, invasive monitoring, emergency stabilization, and multi-organ support.
* Strong ability to manage critically ill children in a high-pressure PICU environment.
* Excellent leadership, communication, clinical judgment, and family-centered care skills.
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a tertiary hospital setting.
