Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Intensivist will lead specialist care for children with complex medical, surgical, respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and post-operative critical conditions. The role requires confident clinical leadership, advanced procedural ability, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, timely, and evidence-based PICU care.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver consultant-level care to critically ill pediatric patients admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
* Manage complex medical and surgical cases requiring advanced monitoring, organ support, and rapid clinical decision-making.
* Perform and supervise advanced PICU procedures, including mechanical ventilation, ECMO support, invasive monitoring, and emergency stabilization.
* Work closely with pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and allied health professionals.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor each patient\'s progress through structured clinical review and multidisciplinary input.
* Provide clear communication and compassionate guidance to families during critical care treatment and recovery planning.
* Mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, and clinical staff involved in pediatric intensive care.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical outcomes, infection control, and international care standards.
* Participate in clinical education programs, research activity, and continuous learning related to PICU advancements.
* Maintain accurate patient documentation, procedure records, progress notes, and care plans in line with hospital and DHA requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Pediatric Intensive Care or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
* Western training from the USA, UK, Canada, or an equivalent healthcare system is mandatory.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-board experience in a consultant PICU role.
* Eligible for DHA Consultant licensure in Dubai.
* Proven expertise in advanced pediatric critical care techniques, including mechanical ventilation, ECMO, and invasive monitoring.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams during urgent and complex pediatric cases.
* Excellent communication style with a family-centered care philosophy.
