Role Context
The Consultant
- Pediatric Medicine will provide evidence-based care for children and adolescents across preventive, developmental, behavioral, acute, and chronic healthcare needs. The role requires strong clinical judgment, family-centered communication, adolescent-sensitive counselling, structured care planning, and collaboration with pediatric subspecialists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nutritionists, therapists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals. The consultant will help strengthen pediatric and adolescent medicine services in Dubai by supporting early diagnosis, preventive screening, long-term disease control, healthy development, and holistic patient-centered care.
Core Duties
* Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric and adolescent medical conditions, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, developmental concerns, behavioral disorders, and complex health needs.
* Provide preventive healthcare services including immunizations, growth monitoring, developmental screening, health checks, lifestyle counselling, and early disease detection.
* Assess infants, children, and adolescents using age-appropriate clinical examination, medical history review, developmental milestones, behavioral indicators, and diagnostic findings.
* Manage adolescent-specific health concerns including mental health issues, eating disorders, lifestyle-related diseases, reproductive health education, sleep problems, and psychosocial wellbeing.
* Develop individualized care plans focused on each patient’s physical health, emotional development, social functioning, family environment, and long-term medical needs.
* Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, psychologists, psychiatrists, nutritionists, therapists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals for coordinated multidisciplinary care.
* Provide family counselling, patient education, and guidance on childhood development, adolescent health, chronic disease management, medication adherence, and preventive care.
* Promote health awareness, disease prevention, healthy nutrition, physical activity, mental wellbeing, safe lifestyle choices, and age-appropriate health education among patients and families.
* Monitor treatment response, developmental progress, chronic disease control, behavioral concerns, and follow-up requirements to adjust care plans when needed.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including consultation notes, diagnosis, treatment plans, screening results, counselling documentation, and follow-up recommendations.
* Ensure clinical practice follows UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, patient safety standards, ethical medical practice, and evidence-based pediatric guidelines.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, continuing medical education activities, departmental meetings, and service improvement projects.
* Contribute to academic teaching, junior staff training, case discussions, and knowledge sharing where applicable.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Specialization in Pediatrics or Adolescent Medicine.
* Fellowship, board certification, or equivalent recognized qualification in Pediatrics or a relevant pediatric subspecialty.
* UAE healthcare license or eligibility for consultant-level pediatric practice is preferred.
* Minimum 5 years of consultant-level experience in Pediatrics or Adolescent Medicine.
