Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric renal conditions, including congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, nephrotic syndrome, nephritic syndrome, acute kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte imbalance, and tubular disorders
* Provide specialist inpatient and outpatient nephrology consultations for infants, children, and adolescents with acute, chronic, inherited, and complex renal conditions
* Oversee pediatric dialysis programs, including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis, while ensuring safe treatment planning and monitoring
* Guide renal transplant evaluations, pre-transplant preparation, post-transplant monitoring, and long-term transplant-related follow-up
* Interpret renal imaging, kidney biopsy results, advanced laboratory diagnostics, renal function tests, and electrolyte profiles to support accurate clinical decisions
* Collaborate with pediatric urologists, endocrinologists, intensivists, transplant specialists, nurses, dietitians, and allied healthcare teams for integrated patient care
* Develop individualized treatment plans, medication strategies, dialysis pathways, monitoring schedules, and long-term renal care plans
* Educate families on kidney disease management, dialysis care, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, nutrition guidance, and long-term follow-up needs
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research activities, CME programs, and multidisciplinary case reviews
* Maintain accurate medical documentation in line with DHA requirements, hospital policies, and clinical governance standards
* Support a compassionate, culturally sensitive, and family-centered care environment for children with kidney disorders and their caregivers
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a Board-certified Consultant Pediatric Nephrologist with strong tertiary-care or academic hospital experience and proven expertise in complex pediatric renal disease, dialysis, and transplant-related care. This role requires excellent diagnostic reasoning, clinical leadership, patient-family counseling skills, and a commitment to multidisciplinary pediatric care.
* Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from a recognized institution
* Board Certification in Pediatric Nephrology
* American Board, Royal College, or equivalent specialist qualification is preferred
* DHA license or eligibility as Consultant Pediatric Nephrologist is required
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary or academic hospital setting
* Proven expertise in pediatric renal disorders, dialysis management, renal imaging review, biopsy interpretation, and transplant follow-up
* Strong experience with congenital renal anomalies, nephrotic syndrome, nephritic syndrome, chronic kidney disease, pediatric hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and tubular conditions
* Ability to work closely with pediatric urology, intensive care, endocrinology, transplant medicine, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
* Strong communication, family counseling, clinical documentation, research, and quality improvement skills
