Role Context
This consultant will lead the diagnosis and continuing management of pediatric kidney diseases and urinary tract disorders. The position combines direct clinical
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, nephrotic syndrome, nephritic syndrome, and glomerular diseases.
* Manage children with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, tubular disorders, and hereditary renal conditions.
* Oversee pediatric peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis programs using established safety and quality protocols.
* Assess patients who require renal replacement therapy and determine appropriate treatment pathways.
* Coordinate kidney transplant evaluations with transplant specialists and provide structured post-transplant monitoring.
* Interpret renal imaging, kidney biopsy results, hormonal data, and specialized laboratory investigations.
Complex cases will be managed in partnership with pediatric urologists, intensivists, endocrinologists, radiologists, dietitians, and transplant teams.
* Educate children and their families about treatment, nutrition, medication use, warning signs, and long-term follow-up.
* Maintain complete clinical records in accordance with hospital, licensing, confidentiality, and patient-safety requirements.
* Participate in multidisciplinary conferences, clinical audits, quality improvement projects, medical teaching, and research.
* Maintain current knowledge of pediatric nephrology through continuing medical education and professional development.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and have completed specialty training in Pediatrics followed by an accredited fellowship or board certification in Pediatric Nephrology. American Board, Royal College, or equivalent certification is required.
The appointment requires education or clinical experience gained in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or an equivalent healthcare system. Candidates should offer at least five years of post-specialization experience as a Consultant Pediatric Nephrologist within a tertiary or academic hospital. Eligibility for or possession of a DHA, DOH, or MOH consultant license is essential.
