The Consultant Pediatric Neuro Oncologist will provide highly specialized care for children and adolescents with primary central nervous system tumors, rare brain tumors, complex neuro-oncologic conditions, and treatment-related complications. This role is clinically significant because pediatric brain tumor care requires precise diagnosis, coordinated treatment planning, advanced therapy selection, long-term survivorship follow-up, and compassionate family communication. Working within a comprehensive pediatric oncology and neurology program, the consultant will help strengthen clinical pathways, tumor board decision-making, research activity, and outcomes for young patients facing complex neurological cancers.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric central nervous system tumors including medulloblastoma, ependymoma, gliomas, germ cell tumors, craniopharyngioma, and rare pediatric brain tumors.
* Lead individualized treatment planning for children with complex neuro-oncology conditions, integrating chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, radiotherapy planning, and surgical coordination.
* Collaborate with radiation oncologists to support radiotherapy planning and with pediatric neurosurgeons for surgical strategy, operative timing, and postoperative care pathways.
* Manage treatment-related complications including neurotoxicity, endocrinopathies, neurological decline, therapy-related side effects, and long-term survivorship concerns.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric neuro-oncology patients, including new diagnosis review, treatment monitoring, relapse assessment, and long-term follow-up.
* Participate in tumor boards, multidisciplinary case discussions, complex care pathways, institutional reviews, and coordinated decision-making for high-risk pediatric cases.
* Work closely with pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, medical oncology, radiology, pathology, rehabilitation, endocrinology, psychology, social work, and child life teams.
* Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, expected complications, and long-term care plans clearly and compassionately to patients and families.
* Support shared decision-making by helping families understand risks, benefits, therapy choices, clinical trial options, and survivorship planning.
* Contribute to the strategic development of pediatric neuro-oncology services, including clinical protocols, treatment pathways, quality improvement initiatives, and service expansion plans.
* Mentor junior physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and clinical staff involved in pediatric oncology and neuro-oncology care.
* Participate in clinical trials, research initiatives, case reports, publications, academic conferences, and evidence-based practice development.
* Teach medical students, residents, and fellows within the pediatric oncology program.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, treatment records, consent notes, tumor board recommendations, follow-up plans, and compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.

* Medical Degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
