Consultant - Pediatric Neuro Oncology in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Hospital and Health Care opportunity for an experienced physician specializing in pediatric CNS tumors, neuro-oncologic complications, advanced cancer therapies, and long-term survivorship care. This role is suited for a consultant who can lead complex pediatric neuro-oncology cases, support multidisciplinary treatment planning, contribute to service development, and provide compassionate care for children and families throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

Role Context

The Consultant - Pediatric Neuro Oncology will provide advanced clinical care for children with primary central nervous system tumors, rare brain tumors, complex neuro-oncologic disorders, and treatment-related complications. The position supports a comprehensive pediatric oncology and neurology program by combining expert diagnosis, individualized therapy planning, multidisciplinary coordination, family counselling, academic contribution, and long-term survivorship care.

Key Responsibilities

* Diagnose and manage pediatric central nervous system tumors, including medulloblastoma, ependymoma, gliomas, germ cell tumors, craniopharyngioma, and rare pediatric brain tumors.
* Lead individualized treatment planning using chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, radiotherapy coordination, and surgical planning with pediatric neurosurgery teams.
* Manage neuro-oncology treatment complications, including neurotoxicity, endocrinopathies, neurological deficits, treatment side effects, and long-term survivorship concerns.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for children with complex neuro-oncologic conditions and related complications.
* Coordinate care with pediatric oncology, pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, rehabilitation, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health teams.
* Participate in tumor boards, multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical pathway planning, and complex care reviews.
* Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, risks, and follow-up plans clearly and compassionately to children, parents, and caregivers.
* Support shared decision-making with families while considering clinical evidence, patient needs, psychosocial factors, and long-term quality of life.
* Work with child life specialists, psychologists, social workers, and rehabilitation teams to support emotional, developmental, and practical patient needs.
* Contribute to the development of pediatric neuro-oncology services, clinical protocols, care pathways, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Mentor junior doctors, fellows, residents, medical students, and clinical staff within the pediatric oncology program.
* Participate in clinical trials, research projects, institutional review work, academic conferences, case reports, and publications.
* Maintain accurate medical records, treatment plans, consent documentation, progress notes, and follow-up reports in line with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.

Ideal Profile

* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Pediatric Oncology, Pediatric Hematology Oncology, or an equivalent recognized specialty.
* Fellowship training in Pediatric Neuro Oncology from a recognized center.
* Minimum 8-10 years of post-specialization experience, including consultant-level pediatric neuro-oncology practice.
* Demonstrated expertise in managing complex pediatric CNS tumors, rare brain tumors, and advanced neuro-oncology therapies.
* Strong experience with chemotherapy, targeted therapies, immunotherapies, radiotherapy planning coordination, and multidisciplinary cancer care.
* Ability to manage treatment-related complications, survivorship issues, neurotoxicity, endocrine effects, and long-term follow-up needs.
* Background in tertiary-care hospitals, internationally accredited centers, academic medical programs, or comprehensive pediatric oncology services is preferred.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to support service development, protocol creation, and quality improvement work.
* Experience in clinical research, teaching, publications, tumor boards, or clinical trials will be highly valued.
* Excellent communication and counselling skills for working with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language skills will be an advantage.
* Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety, ethical care, and family-centered pediatric oncology practice.
