Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Neurologist plays a critical role in diagnosing, treating, and managing neurological conditions that affect brain development, movement, behavior, and long-term child health outcomes. This position supports families through specialist care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based treatment plans that improve quality of life for pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialized care for children with neurological disorders including epilepsy, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, headaches, movement disorders, and neuromuscular conditions
* Conduct detailed neurological examinations, review medical histories, and assess developmental milestones for accurate diagnosis
* Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic investigations including EEG, MRI, CT scans, and other neurological testing
* Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress with regular follow-up assessments
* Work closely with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, and multidisciplinary care teams for comprehensive management
* Support children with complex neurological conditions through long-term treatment strategies and coordinated specialist referrals
* Communicate clearly with families regarding diagnosis, treatment pathways, prognosis, and home care guidance
* Participate in research, conferences, academic publications, and continuing medical education activities
* Stay updated with new advancements in pediatric neurology and evidence-based clinical practices
* Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with hospital quality and safety standards
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized accredited institution
* Specialized training and Board Certification in Pediatric Neurology is mandatory
* Minimum 5 years of Consultant-level experience in pediatric neurology practice
* Western-trained education or specialist clinical experience is required
* Strong expertise in diagnosing and managing complex pediatric neurological disorders
* Excellent communication skills with strong patient and family counseling ability
* Advanced analytical thinking and strong clinical problem-solving capabilities
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary specialist healthcare environment
