Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Neurologist will
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric neurological disorders including epilepsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, neurogenetic conditions, and other central or peripheral nervous system diseases.
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments using patient history, developmental review, physical examination, neurological evaluation, family history, and diagnostic evidence.
* Interpret EEG, MRI, CT scans, neurophysiological studies, laboratory results, and related investigations to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
* Develop individualized treatment and long-term management plans for infants, children, and adolescents with complex neurological needs.
* Manage inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology cases, including acute presentations, chronic follow-up, medication adjustment, seizure control, developmental concerns, and referral-based cases.
* Provide specialist input for children with seizures, abnormal movements, developmental regression, muscle weakness, headaches, neurodevelopmental concerns, and suspected genetic neurological conditions.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, psychologists, geneticists, radiologists, nurses, therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
* Counsel patients and families about diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, medication use, seizure safety, rehabilitation needs, and long-term care planning.
* Participate in pediatric neuroscience discussions, clinical audits, academic activities, research projects, conferences, and continuing medical education programs.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, diagnostic reviews, treatment plans, medication records, consent documentation, follow-up notes, and discharge recommendations in compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies.
* Stay updated with advances in pediatric neurology, epilepsy management, neurodiagnostic procedures, and evidence-based child neurology practice.
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that strengthen pediatric neurological care, patient safety, clinical pathways, and family-centered service delivery.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from an accredited institution recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
* Board Certification, Fellowship, or equivalent advanced qualification in Pediatric Neurology.
* Valid DOH Consultant License or DOH Eligibility Letter in Pediatric Neurology.
* Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist in a reputed tertiary care or academic hospital.
* Strong clinical expertise in pediatric epilepsy, developmental delays, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, neurogenetic conditions, and pediatric neurodiagnostic procedures.
* Experience managing both inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology services.
* Western-trained candidates are preferred.
* Experience in epilepsy management and pediatric neurophysiology will be an advantage.
* Exposure to multidisciplinary pediatric neuroscience programs is preferred.
* Research publications, academic teaching, conference participation, or clinical education involvement will be an added advantage.
* Excellent communication, analytical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with children, families, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
