Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Oncologist - BMT will play a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring children with cancer and serious hematologic disorders. The position requires strong clinical leadership, deep transplant expertise, and the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, individualized, and evidence-based care for pediatric patients undergoing complex oncology and BMT treatment.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric oncology and hematology conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, and transplant-related disorders.
* Perform, oversee, and guide autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation procedures.
* Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and create individualized treatment plans for children requiring advanced cancer or hematology care.
* Supervise junior physicians, fellows, and clinical team members involved in pediatric oncology and BMT protocols.
* Monitor patients before, during, and after transplant procedures, ensuring early identification of complications and appropriate intervention.
* Provide clear education and counseling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, transplant care, and long-term follow-up.
* Ensure clinical practice follows international standards, hospital policies, safety protocols, and applicable UAE healthcare regulations.
* Participate in clinical trials, research programs, CME activities, and academic development within the pediatric oncology service.
* Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, progress notes, and post-transplant outcomes.
* Support on-call rotations and emergency coverage for urgent pediatric oncology and transplant cases when required.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
* Fellowship training in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation is mandatory.
* Minimum 5 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric oncology and BMT.
* Eligible for UAE healthcare licensure at consultant level.
* Western-trained candidates from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or equivalent systems are preferred.
* Strong experience with pediatric cancer pathways, transplant complications, infection risk, immunosuppression, and long-term survivorship care.
* Excellent communication skills with children, families, clinical teams, and hospital leadership.
* Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, safety, and continuous outcome improvement.
