Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
* Perform strabismus correction surgeries and related pediatric ophthalmology procedures with a strong focus on safe visual and functional outcomes.
* Assess and treat amblyopia, binocular vision disorders, eye alignment concerns, and childhood visual development issues.
* Conduct detailed pediatric eye examinations and interpret relevant diagnostic findings to guide treatment planning.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on each child’s condition, visual needs, age, family concerns, and long-term care goals.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, orthoptists, optometrists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Provide clear education to parents and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical expectations, recovery, and follow-up care.
* Monitor post-treatment and post-surgical progress, adjusting plans when required to support the best possible visual outcome.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, procedure notes, consent documentation, treatment plans, and follow-up reports.
* Support patient safety, evidence-based care, clinical governance, and quality standards within pediatric ophthalmology services.
Ideal Profile
* Tier 1 qualification such as American Board of Ophthalmology, UK CCT, Canadian Board, Australian Fellowship, New Zealand Fellowship, or equivalent recognized certification.
* Fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
* Minimum 5-7 years of consultant-level experience in pediatric ophthalmology.
* DOH license, DHA license, or eligibility for UAE healthcare consultant licensing is preferred.
* Strong expertise in strabismus surgery, amblyopia care, binocular vision disorders, and pediatric eye disease management.
* Proven ability to manage pediatric patients with a calm, family-centered, and compassionate approach.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex eye conditions clearly to parents and caregivers.
* Ability to work effectively with pediatric and multidisciplinary teams.
