Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery will provide expert evaluation, treatment planning, operative care, and rehabilitation coordination for children with congenital, developmental, traumatic, spinal, sports-related, and neuromuscular orthopedic conditions. The role requires strong surgical judgment, family-centered communication, and close collaboration with pediatricians, neurologists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, physiotherapists, nurses, and other specialist teams in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric orthopedic conditions, including congenital deformities, scoliosis, hip disorders, limb abnormalities, fractures, sports injuries, and neuromuscular conditions.
* Perform pediatric orthopedic surgical procedures, including trauma surgery, deformity correction, spinal procedures, reconstructive surgeries, and other clinically indicated interventions.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for infants, children, and adolescents requiring pediatric orthopedic assessment and treatment.
* Evaluate and manage pediatric musculoskeletal trauma, emergency orthopedic presentations, fractures, dislocations, and complex injury cases.
* Develop individualized treatment plans covering conservative management, surgical intervention, postoperative care, mobility support, and rehabilitation goals.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, rehabilitation specialists, neurologists, radiologists, physiotherapists, orthopedic teams, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
* Support care pathways for children requiring long-term orthopedic follow-up, mobility restoration, deformity monitoring, or neuromuscular condition management.
* Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, recovery expectations, rehabilitation needs, and long-term outcomes.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, rehabilitation recommendations, and follow-up records.
* Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, surgical safety standards, infection control requirements, and patient safety protocols.
* Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, research, teaching, continuing medical education, and quality improvement activities.
* Contribute to pediatric orthopedic service development through evidence-based care, protocol improvement, rehabilitation coordination, and surgical outcome monitoring.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by UAE healthcare authorities.
* Board certification, fellowship, or recognized specialist qualification in Orthopaedic Surgery.
* Subspecialty training or strong consultant-level experience in Pediatric Orthopaedics.
* Valid UAE Consultant License or eligibility in Orthopaedic Surgery.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery within a tertiary care or academic hospital.
* Strong expertise in pediatric orthopedic trauma, deformity correction, reconstructive procedures, congenital deformity care, scoliosis, hip disorders, and limb abnormalities.
* Experience in pediatric spine surgery and complex deformity correction will be an advantage.
* Exposure to multidisciplinary pediatric rehabilitation programs is preferred.
* Academic involvement, research publications, teaching, audit work, or CME participation will strengthen the profile.
* Excellent surgical judgment, communication, documentation, family counselling, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with children, families, and specialist clinical teams.
