Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatric Psychiatry will assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor mental health conditions affecting children and adolescents while working closely with families and allied healthcare professionals. The role requires strong Arabic communication, sound clinical judgment, cultural awareness, and the ability to build trust with young patients and caregivers. Working in Dubai’s growing mental health sector, the consultant will help strengthen pediatric psychiatric services through individualized treatment planning, family education, multidisciplinary case management, and adherence to DHA regulations and ethical clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for children and adolescents, including clinical interviews, developmental history, family context, behavioral concerns, and risk evaluation.
* Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric mental health conditions affecting emotional, behavioral, developmental, and social functioning.
* Develop individualized treatment plans that may include psychotherapy recommendations, medication management, family guidance, and coordinated multidisciplinary support.
* Provide ongoing follow-up consultations to monitor patient progress, treatment response, side effects, safety concerns, and functional improvement.
* Work closely with psychologists, pediatricians, therapists, nurses, school counselors, and allied healthcare professionals to deliver integrated patient care.
* Engage families with clear guidance in Arabic and English, helping parents understand diagnosis, treatment options, home support strategies, and follow-up needs.
* Support children and adolescents through a compassionate, culturally sensitive, and developmentally appropriate care approach.
* Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical meetings, and care planning sessions for complex pediatric mental health cases.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, medication documentation, consent records, and follow-up summaries.
* Ensure adherence to DHA regulations, ethical standards, patient confidentiality requirements, and best clinical practices.
* Contribute to a supportive clinical environment focused on early intervention, family trust, and safe mental health outcomes.
* Collaborate with the wider care team to improve service quality, continuity of care, and patient experience for Arabic-speaking pediatric families.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Psychiatry.
* CCT Certificate of Completion of Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
* Eligibility for DHA licensure or active DHA license as a Consultant Pediatric Psychiatrist.
* Fluency in Arabic is essential, with strong English communication skills required.
* Proven experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical mental health setting.
* Strong diagnostic ability across pediatric psychiatric, behavioral, emotional, and developmental presentations.
* Experience working in the Middle East or with Arabic-speaking populations is preferred.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team involving psychologists, pediatricians, therapists, nurses, and school counselors.
* Compassionate and patient-centered approach with strong cultural sensitivity.
* Strong organizational skills, time-management ability, and commitment to accurate clinical documentation.
