Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatric Pulmonology will provide specialized medical care for children with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, recurrent infections, breathing difficulties, sleep-related respiratory concerns, and complex pulmonary disorders. The role requires strong diagnostic ability, careful interpretation of clinical tests, patient-focused treatment planning, and close collaboration with pediatricians, respiratory therapists, nurses, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. The consultant will help strengthen pediatric respiratory services in Dubai through clinical excellence, education, service development, and evidence-based pulmonary care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialized consultation and treatment for pediatric patients with respiratory disorders, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, chronic cough, recurrent chest infections, and breathing-related concerns.
* Conduct detailed medical assessments, review patient history, perform clinical examinations, and request appropriate diagnostic investigations.
* Interpret pulmonary function tests, imaging reports, laboratory results, allergy assessments, and other respiratory diagnostic findings.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, age, clinical progress, family needs, and evidence-based pediatric pulmonology standards.
* Prescribe medication, inhaled therapies, respiratory support, preventive care plans, and long-term disease management strategies.
* Monitor patient progress through follow-up consultations and adjust treatment plans according to response, symptoms, and clinical findings.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, emergency physicians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, nurses, radiologists, dietitians, and allied healthcare teams.
* Support multidisciplinary management for children with complex pulmonary disease, chronic respiratory illness, or overlapping medical conditions.
* Educate patients and families on medication use, inhaler technique, trigger avoidance, symptom monitoring, preventive care, and emergency action plans.
* Stay updated on advancements in pediatric pulmonology and incorporate appropriate new techniques, treatments, and clinical approaches into practice.
* Participate in medical education, clinical teaching, training sessions, and knowledge sharing for healthcare professionals and students.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of pediatric pulmonary healthcare programs, respiratory care pathways, and service improvement initiatives.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, consultation notes, treatment plans, test interpretations, and follow-up documentation.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification in Pediatrics with subspecialty training in Pediatric Pulmonology.
* DHA license or DHA eligibility as a Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist.
* Minimum 5 years of specialist or consultant-level experience in pediatric respiratory medicine.
* Strong clinical experience in managing asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, chronic cough, recurrent respiratory infections, and complex pediatric pulmonary disorders.
* Confident ability to assess diagnostic results, create treatment plans, and monitor long-term respiratory outcomes.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary pediatric healthcare environment.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain respiratory conditions and treatment plans clearly to children, parents, and caregivers.
* Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, medical ethics, continuous learning, and high-quality pediatric care.
