Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric
Rehabilitation will provide specialist clinical leadership for children who require structured rehabilitation after illness, injury, developmental delay, neurological conditions, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, or musculoskeletal impairment. The role supports children and families by combining medical assessment, therapy coordination, functional goal setting, home-based guidance, and long-term progress monitoring. Working within a multidisciplinary pediatric rehabilitation setting, the consultant will help improve movement, communication, daily function, confidence, and participation in family, school, and community life.
Key Responsibilities
* Evaluate and manage pediatric rehabilitation cases involving cerebral palsy, developmental delay, neuromuscular disorders, neurological impairment, musculoskeletal conditions, mobility limitations, and functional disability.
* Conduct comprehensive medical and functional assessments to identify rehabilitation needs, therapy goals, clinical risks, and long-term support requirements.
* Develop individualized rehabilitation plans focused on improving mobility, independence, strength, coordination, communication, daily activities, and quality of life.
* Lead and coordinate physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, psychology, and allied healthcare input for pediatric patients.
* Monitor patient progress through functional reviews, therapy feedback, clinical reassessment, family updates, and outcome-based rehabilitation goals.
* Adjust treatment plans according to patient response, developmental progress, medical status, therapy outcomes, and family priorities.
* Educate families on home-based rehabilitation programs, safe mobility, positioning, exercises, assistive devices, adaptive routines, and long-term care planning.
* Support children with complex rehabilitation needs through coordinated care planning with pediatricians, neurologists, orthopedic teams, and other specialists.
* Ensure accurate clinical documentation, rehabilitation plans, progress notes, therapy recommendations, family education records, and follow-up instructions.
* Maintain compliance with UAE healthcare standards, patient safety requirements, clinical governance expectations, and evidence-based pediatric rehabilitation protocols.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions, service improvement, therapy pathway development, and patient-centered rehabilitation planning.
* Promote compassionate, child-friendly, and family-centered care throughout assessment, treatment, and long-term rehabilitation follow-up.
Ideal Profile
* Consultant qualification in Pediatric Rehabilitation, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, Neurology, or Orthopedics with relevant rehabilitation experience.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical experience in pediatric rehabilitation or a closely related specialty.
* Eligible for DHA or DOH medical licensing.
* Strong clinical expertise in managing children with cerebral palsy, developmental delay, neuromuscular disorders, neurological conditions, musculoskeletal impairment, and functional disability.
* Experienced in leading multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs involving physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, psychology, and allied health teams.
* Strong ability to create practical, measurable, and family-centered rehabilitation goals.
* Excellent leadership, communication, patient counseling, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
* Fluent English communication skills are required; Arabic language ability is an advantage.
