Key Responsibilities
* Deliver consultant-level surgical care for pediatric patients, including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents with routine, complex, urgent, or emergency surgical needs.
* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within approved pediatric surgery privileges and hospital standards.
* Assess pediatric surgical cases, review investigations, determine treatment options, and develop individualized surgical care plans.
* Conduct daily ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans with pediatricians, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nurses, radiology teams, and allied health professionals.
* Provide expert surgical decision-making for complex pediatric cases requiring collaboration with other medical and surgical specialties.
* Supervise junior medical staff, residents, and clinical team members while supporting their training, evaluation, and professional development.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records, operative notes, consent documentation, ward round updates, and follow-up plans.
* Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, morbidity reviews, patient safety programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Provide on-call coverage and respond to pediatric surgical emergencies according to the departmental schedule.
* Uphold patient rights, confidentiality, infection control standards, and child-focused safety protocols.
* Engage in research, publications, continuous medical education, and evidence-based pediatric surgery practice.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Completion of accredited residency and fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery.
* Board certification in Pediatric Surgery such as American Board, Royal College, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* Minimum 7 years of experience post-specialization.
* At least 2 years of experience in a tertiary care center.
* Eligibility for regional consultant-level healthcare licensing is preferred.
* Strong clinical expertise in pediatric surgical assessment, operative care, emergency response, and postoperative management.
* Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in complex pediatric surgical cases.
* Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and mentoring skills.
* Commitment to patient safety, child-centered care, ethical practice, accurate documentation, and clinical excellence.
