Role Context
The Consultant Pediatric Vascular Surgeon will
Key Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose, and manage congenital and acquired vascular disorders affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
* Perform complex pediatric vascular surgery, including vascular reconstruction and procedures for vascular malformations and aneurysms.
* Plan and undertake specialized vascular access procedures for pediatric patients with complex clinical requirements.
* Evaluate arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders and determine appropriate surgical, endovascular, or multidisciplinary treatment pathways.
* Provide consultant-level inpatient and outpatient pediatric vascular surgery assessments.
* Respond to pediatric vascular trauma, acute vascular emergencies, ischemic complications, and other time-sensitive surgical conditions.
* Develop individualized operative and postoperative management plans based on clinical findings, imaging, risk factors, and patient needs.
* Coordinate complex cases with pediatric surgeons, interventional radiologists, pediatric cardiologists, intensivists, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other specialists.
* Explain diagnoses, proposed procedures, potential complications, treatment alternatives, and postoperative requirements clearly to parents and families.
* Review clinical progress following surgery and adjust treatment or follow-up strategies where required.
* Maintain complete medical, surgical, consent, operative, and follow-up documentation in accordance with UAE regulatory requirements and hospital standards.
* Contribute to clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, research, teaching, and continuing medical education.
* Apply rigorous patient safety, infection prevention, surgical governance, and evidence-based clinical standards throughout the service.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board Certification or Fellowship in Vascular Surgery with relevant subspecialty training or substantial experience in pediatric vascular surgery.
* Appropriate UAE consultant licensing or eligibility for consultant-level practice.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in pediatric vascular surgery, preferably within a tertiary, specialist children\'s, or academic hospital.
* Advanced experience in pediatric vascular reconstruction and management of complex vascular abnormalities.
* Demonstrated competence in treating vascular malformations and congenital pediatric vascular anomalies.
* Experience with hybrid vascular or endovascular pediatric procedures would be advantageous.
* Strong clinical decision-making and operative skills for complex and high-risk pediatric cases.
* Academic involvement, clinical research, medical education, or teaching experience is desirable.
* Ability to communicate sensitively with children, parents, families, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
* Comfortable practicing within a diverse, multicultural healthcare environment.
